Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Updated April  22, 2022

Visiting KFPL branches

Masks are no longer required for entry to our libraries. Our staff will continue to wear masks and to maintain physical distance while assisting you during your visit.

Patrons are asked to take the COVID-19 self-assessment test prior to visiting, and to stay at home if you have symptoms, if you may have been exposed to COVID-19, or if you are awaiting COVID-19 test results, please stay at home and do not visit the library.

Increasing open hours and access

Beginning May 2, hours will increase at all branches in the City of Kingston.

The Central, Isabel Turner and Calvin Park Branches will once again open at 9:00 a.m. Evening hours will be extended to 8:00 p.m. at all locations Monday through Thursday; the Isabel Turner Branch is already open until 8:00 p.m.  Full day Saturdays will also return at Rideau Heights.

Those branches that had limited capacity removed those restrictions on Monday, March 14.

Room Rentals

Information about meeting room rentals is available on our Meeting Room Rentals page.

Computer Access

Public computers may still be limited, and computer use will be limited to a maximum of one hour per day.

Programs

We continue to offer a variety of programs in virtual format, as well as in-person programs outdoors. Some indoor programs have resumed. Please visit our event calendar for details. We require that masks be worn by participants ages 2 and up for all indoor programs.

Available online

Use a variety of our online services - from ebooks, eaudiobooks, movies and music, to online programs and learning tools. If you can't visit our branches to sign up for a library card at this time, Kingston-Frontenac residents who are 16 years or older can sign up online for a library card.

Home Library Service

Home Library Service is available with limited contactless service. Deliveries will be made to existing homebound patrons as usual.  More information about our Home Library Service is available here.
