What is the Friends of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library

The Friends of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library (the Friends) is a volunteer led charitable organization dedicated to raising funds for enhance services, materials and equipment not provided by public funding. Anyone can become a Friend and help the Library in its endeavours through friendship donations.

What We Do

As a Friend your donations contribute to the enhancement of library services in all branches of the Kingston Frontenac system. We raise funds in a number of ways: through friendship donations, through gift sales and through the daily book sale we run at the Isabel Turner and Central branches. Visit the Book Sale and Donations page to learn which materials are acceptable for donations.

The Friends have donated over $20,000 annually in support of our libraries. The funds provided a wide variety of programming and outreach through our branches. Programmes included 'Outlandish' and KingCon, and for children, StoryWalk and Live at the Library, to name a few. We also purchased a 3D printer, which has seen wide use across the different branches. In previous years, we have supported the Isabel Turner Teen Space with a donation of $25,000 and the Calvin Park Campaign with $75,000 for their branch revitalization. More recently, we gave $25,000 in support of the "Gather" and "Create" Space at the revitalized Central branch.
