I am convinced that collecting books and reading books are two separate hobbies. How big are your 'to be read' piles? At what point do you just decide to pass the book on vs keeping it? Mine is a little more manageable as I was forced to pare it down for moving last year...but it's starting to creep back up again! :)

My physical TBR is pretty big, I'd say around 100. I did get rid of some because I also moved recently but I went a little wild buying used books last year. No regrets! I pass on the book if I've had it for years and the story doesn't interest me anymore, but that doesn't happen too often. I'm trying to focus on reading my physical TBR at the moment because my digital/library TBR is overwhelming, haha. I'll never read it all, but that's fine!

My pile to read(PAL in french) is big, very big. I have a big list at the library and 50 books at home that I want to read, half of then I have already read but I want to read again.
The question I ask myself to keep a book is: Do I want to read it again? if yes; I keep it. if no; I give it away.
Well.. my TBR is immense, and it has two sections: my mental TBR which includes all the books I've heard of through my lifetime and that I wish to read someday, and my physical TBR, composed my what's on my bookshelf. It always make me feel so sad that I'll never have enough time to read them all.
I am lucky in that there are 3 fantasy readers in my house. I can get away with buying more when they are “for someone else” even though I fully intend on reading them too :) My issue is that fantasy books are often series and while I love completing a trilogy, I sometimes want to move on to another book.
I totally agree. The want to read pile is much larger than the time to read pile. I’m adding audio into the mix in order to get more off of my list.
We don’t have a lot of storage so my keep books are about 40, everything else is handed out to the library book sale, returned to KFPL, or handed out in little free libraries.
I rarely keep a book for more than a year because I believe that a book in one's mind is more valuable than a book in one's bookcase; if I want to read a book again, I can most likely borrow it from the library. Then I keep my bookcase clean and let others read my books.
Well said honestly!! I love sharing books and community exchange books because it doesn’t make sense to get a book and read it once then just put away forever!!
Looking to get a bit of knowledge from historical based books. I get bored easily but looking to give them a go, so please let me know if any recommendations
Yes, I love books that are made into movies or shows! One of my favourites is the Summer I Turned Pretty, that just got turned into a tv show. It was a book I read so many years back but still nice to see they made a show for the current kids.

House of many readers

Too many books, not enough time

I love this way of thinking!
I love this way of thinking! I try to be very minimalistic, even with my books and that is why I enjoy the library so much!
Recommendation Needed
Looking to get a bit of knowledge from historical based books. I get bored easily but looking to give them a go, so please let me know if any recommendations
Historical Fiction
Do you mean historical fiction or nonfiction?
Recommendation Offered
I like the Falco series by Lindsay Davis. Noir style mystery series set during the Flavian Empire.
Books vs. TV Series and Movies
Does anyone else like to read books and then watch the companion movie or tv series?
Books and Movies
I always try to read the book first, but I am often disappointed by the movie or series that don't match my imagination.
That being said I really liked The Hunger Games, The Time Traveller's Wife, and the Nicholas Sparks movies.
